About us
We started this because too many people were waiting
CuraRide was founded in 2019 by a patient transfer attendant who had spent a decade watching discharges stall, families take unpaid days off, and passengers left at a curb in February. None of that is a transportation problem. It is a care problem that happens to involve a vehicle.
Our mission
Transport that a family would choose for their own
Our promise is narrow on purpose. We move people to and from care, safely and on time, and we tell you the truth about what is happening. We do not pretend to be a clinical service, and we do not take a trip we cannot staff properly.
What we do control is everything around the drive: the notice you get, the person who shows up, the equipment in the vehicle, and whether anyone calls you when a schedule slips.

The passenger sets the pace
Nobody is rushed onto a lift or through a doorway. If a transfer takes eleven minutes instead of four, it takes eleven minutes.
-
Safety is a routine, not a promise
Securement checks, vehicle inspections and transfer plans happen the same way on the quiet trips as on the difficult ones.
-
Say what is actually happening
If we are running twenty minutes late, you hear it from us first. Families should never have to phone to find out where someone is.
-
Dignity is part of the service
We ask before we touch, we use the name people prefer, and we treat a passenger's home and belongings the way we would treat our own.
Hiring, training and safety
What has to be true before anyone drives for us
Every one of these is a standard, not an aspiration. Account partners can ask to see the records behind them.
-
Screened before the first shift
Every attendant completes a police record check with vulnerable sector screening and a driver's abstract review before they carry a passenger.
-
Trained in transfer, not just driving
Standard first aid, CPR level C, safe lifting and transfer technique, wheelchair securement, dementia-aware communication and accessible customer service.
-
Vehicles inspected and logged
Lifts, ramps, securement hardware and cots are checked on a documented schedule, and every vehicle is cleaned between passengers.
-
Two attendants where it matters
Stretcher trips, bariatric transfers and any journey with a complex transfer plan are staffed with two trained attendants as standard.
-
Insured and documented
Commercial vehicle and general liability coverage, with certificates, inspection records and training records available to account partners on request.
-
Clear about what we are not
We are not an ambulance service. We do not provide paramedic care, clinical monitoring or medication en route, and we say so before you book.
The people behind it
A small team, on purpose
Everyone here has either done the job or trained the people who do. That is not a coincidence — it is how we hire.
-
Daniel Okonkwo
Founder & Director of Operations
Spent eleven years as a patient transfer attendant before starting CuraRide. Still takes a shift most weeks, mostly on the long-distance runs.
-
Marie-Claude Fortin
Clinical Standards Lead
A registered nurse with a background in complex continuing care. Writes our transfer protocols and signs off every attendant before their first solo shift.
-
Samir Haddad
Dispatch Manager
Runs the room that answers the phone at three in the morning. Believes a pickup window you can rely on is worth more than an apology.
-
Ruth Bergeron
Training & Compliance
Former paramedic educator. Handles onboarding, annual recertification, vehicle audits and the paperwork our facility partners depend on.
Placeholder team. Replace with your own people and photographs before launch.
Meet us before you need us
Families and facility teams are welcome to call and ask how we would handle a specific trip. No obligation, and no sales script.
Dispatch answers 24 hours a day, every day of the year
